7 Affordable Fall Vacation Destinations in the U.S

Fall is just around the corner and, as usual, most of us want to take a simple getaway to unwind from the monotony of the first half of the year.

If you think about it, summer is great, but the fall is actually the best time to take a vacation; the temperatures are mild and the air is brisk across the country, so there are plenty of affordable options for you to choose from.

The specialists at our limo service in Nashville have decided to compile a list of some of our favorite, wallet-friendly destinations in this post. For your fall excursions, we recommend employing the services of our ground transportation service in Nashville

Your fall vacation should be a period of absolute relaxation, where you get to sit back, clear your mind, and revel in the simple pleasure of not having to do anything for a few days/weeks. Navigating unfamiliar territory can be quite tasking but with our professional services, you can focus on simply enjoying the luxury amenities of a deluxe vehicle and the company of your family/friends as you look forward to your next travel destination.

Now, without further ado, let us have a look at some of the most pleasant, yet affordable, fall vacation destinations in the United States. Have a great season!

New York: The Finger Lakes Region

Head over to New York this fall and find the Finger Lakes Region, which derives its name from its series of long thin lakes. The Finger Lakes Region is located between Syracuse and Rochester and is comprised of 14 sub-regions.

The area is a local favorite and is popular for its numerous leaf-peeping activities, making it the ideal fall vacation. To get here, we suggest taking a flight to Buffalo from where you will take a short one-hour drive; flights to and from Buffalo are the least expensive in the State of New York around this time of year, which will save you a few extra bucks.

Fall activities to keep an eye out for this year in the Finger Lakes Region around this time of year include water-to-wine tours, the Apple Tasting Tour, tours on the New York Haunted History Trail, and many more.

Chicago

Summer in Chicago attracts the highest number of visitors, which to our advantage means that you have to fight fewer crowds in the Windy City during fall. You also don’t have to pay that much to book hotels or hire ground transportation services. We suggest that you enjoy attractions such as the Navy Pier, the Field Museum, and the Millennium Park while you are here this fall.

You will also get to enjoy mild weather that ranges anywhere between 60 and 70 at this time of year. However, don’t forget to bring a jacket to shield you against the sometimes unforgiving breezes from Lake Michigan, especially during the morning and evening hours.

Visit Chicago any time during fall apart from the weekend of the Chicago Marathon, which has been set for the 13th of October this year and is expected to attract over 40,000 runners.

Boston

Fall is one of the most eventful seasons in Boston, especially since it is the only season where all of the city’s sports teams are in season. Fall is also the season when Boston becomes a country wide attraction in terms of leaf-peeping alongside other New England destinations such as Vermont, Stowe, Maine, and New Hampshire.

As an added bonus, flights to and from Boston have been said to be up to 6 percent off around this time of year. Annual events to be on the lookout for this fall include the Heaf of the Charles Regatta, Harpoons Brewery Octoberfest, and the Boston Athletic Association half-marathon.

Hawaii

This list would be incomplete without mentioning, even briefly, Hawaii. Travelers flock to Hawaii during the summer and winter holidays, but the real sweet spot is actually fall (don’t tell anyone). This in-between season means smaller crowds, lower rates, and affordable airfare.

This makes fall in Hawaii one of the most ideal seasons to fully enjoy activities such as surfing, hiking through tropical highlands, snorkeling, golfing, busking at the beach, hula dancing, viewing volcanos, and much more. We, however, recommend visiting before November to avoid being caught by the rains.

California: Sacramento

Although generally California has great weather throughout the year, the capital of Sacramento is less expensive in terms of access during fall. Sacramento also has a myriad of airports to choose from, all within a two-hour drive from popular California destinations such as Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, and San Francisco.

Fall in Sacramento is the perfect time to engage in family-friendly activities such as visits to the famous Sacramento zoo, the Fairytale Town, the Children’s Museum, and Andy’s Candy. If you are a wine/beer lover you may also want to try the Sacramento wine region, the proximal Napa Valley, Old Sugar Mill, the Boggle Winery, and many more wineries and breweries.

South Carolina: Myrtle Beach

Much like the locations on this list, Myrtle Beach is perfect for vacationing during fall. During this season crowds are much smaller, which automatically implies cheaper accommodations (even by the beach), shorter queues, and more dining options.

This is a perfect option for a fall vacation for anyone who loves feeling the sand under their feet; the temperatures are fairly warm around this time of year, so you can still take a dip in the water comfortably.

Florida: Fort Lauderdale

Round-trip fares to Fort Lauderdale are at their lowest during the fall, making this one of the cheapest fall destinations in the United States. During this season travelers can land flight round-trips from the Northeast as low as $100. If you plan your visit for September you will get to enjoy the annual spa month, where participants receive ridiculous discounts on spa packages in Fort Lauderdale.

September also happens to be restaurant month in Broward County and you will have access to more than 40 restaurants, all offering three-course meals at an average of only $30per head.
